Our Story
Secured Equities was founded by Sterling W. James, a seasoned real estate investor and licensed tax consultant with over 40 years of experience. Sterling’s journey began in 1981 when he purchased his first rental property. Since then, he has built a reputation for successfully acquiring, renovating, and selling residential and commercial properties. Today, Sterling applies this vast experience to the world of mortgage note investing—finding creative, practical solutions for distressed assets while delivering above-average returns for investors.
Beyond real estate, Sterling brings over a decade of tax consulting expertise to the company, helping clients minimize tax liabilities and optimize financial strategies. This dual expertise allows Secured Equities to craft solutions that not only grow wealth but also protect it.

Sterling James LTC, EA, MSTP
Sterling has been a real estate investor for over 40 years. His journey began in 1981 with the purchase of a triplex in Beaumont, TX.

Since then, he successfully acquired, renovated, and sold numerous residential and small commercial properties, developed land and built new homes.
​
He is also a Licensed Tax Consultant and Advisor.
